What Does It Mean to Be Professional Tennis Player
To become a professional tennis player is great achievement.By professional tennis player I mean a person whose professional career is playing professional tennis that is the one who makes living by playing tennis professionally.
In my opinion meaningful professional tennis career is when someone reaches top 100 ATP/WTA and stays there for at least 5 years.
Everybody tries his/her best and hopes to be the number one, but reaching top 100 and staying there at least 5 years is great.How many people in their segment of work can say that they are top 100 in the world.Not very many.
To be ranked professionally in tennis is great achievement by itself, but compared to invested money , time and effort is great loss.If one¨s tennis career does not match my definition of tennis professional then is too much money, time and effort wasted which could be used in more constructive way which would yield greater benefits.
If one reaches top 100 in the world he/she will not recover all money invested on the way up, but besides being top 100 which is exceptional achievement by itself he/she will do well enough financially (car, living place, savings) to have a good start for the next chapter in life after playing career.
